At both Core Cardiology and his permanent position at Canberra Hospital, Dr Nikhil Pal focuses on advanced cardiac procedures, particularly TAVI (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation). His work has helped expand treatment options for Canberra patients with complex heart conditions.
In his personal time, he enjoys travelling and spending time with his wife and 2-year-old daughter.
Dr Pal completed his cardiology training across the UK before undertaking his doctorate at Oxford University. His interest in interventional cardiology led him to pursue fellowships at Royal Bournemouth Hospital in the UK and Flinders Hospital in Adelaide, where he developed expertise in complex cardiac procedures.
Since joining Canberra Hospital in 2023, Dr Pal has played a central role in establishing Canberra's TAVI service, introducing this advanced heart valve procedure to the local community. Before moving to Canberra, he worked as a Cardiology Specialist across hospitals in Hobart and Launceston, building extensive experience in Australian healthcare delivery.
